Day 9 Jurong Bird Park
Looking forward to this day out to see the many birds in this park. Jurong Bird Park is part of the Wildlife Reserves Singapore along with the zoo, the Nigh Safari and the River Safari parks. For such a small country of 5.7 million people, the amount of land dedicated to preservation is a credit to their investment into the future.
Each park posts this advisory:
First stop was the penguin exhibit with these warm weather little guys.
This macaw couldn't get enough of the water spray provided by the keeper and kept "calling" for more!
Each park posts this advisory:
In light of the latest updates from the Singapore authorities, and with all our guests and employees at the top of our minds, we have stepped up on preventive and precautionary measures across our wildlife parks.
We seek the cooperation of our guests, as we carry out temperature screening at the entry points of our parks. Daily temperature screening is also conducted for all our staff and visitors. Across all our parks, disinfection is being carried out every hour, especially in high traffic areas such as ticketing points.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a staff member who assisted me with connecting to their wifi and obtaining my ticket with a QR code in my email. The map of the park is also accessed online. I expected a long line for the temperature screening but I was the only one entering at 9 a.m. It felt like I had the park to myself. After presenting my ticket, I asked about my temperature screening and it had already been done! They have an infrared camera that records your body temp as you walk through the gate!

The tram offers a wonderful way around the park with four well-placed stops to see every exhibit.

| No "alighting" from a moving tram! LOL! |

| Sign! Sign! Everywhere a sign! Blocking out the scenery and blowin' my mind. |

So my camera battery died and left me with my iPhone 11. I put an extra battery in my carry bag to avoid future faux pas.
An air conditioned stop for lunch in the Hawk Cafe was a great respite for late in the day with spicy chicken, rice and green beans with a cold homemade lemon tea.
After 2.8 miles of walking and 5 1/2 hours in the park, I decided it was time to return home. A quick stop in the cold weather penguin exhibit and then...the bird show!

Ordered a Grab home and learned a good lesson in the process. I was looking for a private car using only the plate numbers. The letters prior to the numbers actually tell you that it's a taxi being used as a Grab! So after searching for a few minutes for a private car, a nice man explained the plate to me and my taxi was the first in line waiting for me!
I always enjoy riding through the city since I'm able to checkout the sights and take some photos. The city buses are double deckers.
No blog tomorrow since it will be my day in to do laundry and prepare for my departure on Sunday on my Thailand tour with Road Scholar.

Wow! What a great park! Super bird shots!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I was bummed when my battery died. I thought about bringing a spare but I had already called for my Grab and I needed to get down to the front for my pick up so he wouldn't leave me but still charge me!
