Day 5 - Breakfast and Shopping with Sophia

Sophia and I get up within minutes of each other and decide to go to ABC (Artisan Boulangerie Co) for breakfast and then head downtown to Orchard Road for some shopping at Toys R Us!

The neighborhood is quite nice with lots to offer only blocks away. The Botanic on Lloyd is the name of the apartment complex with a preschool just across the street.

Odyssey International Preschool
The neighborhood is very nice with shops offering all you might need in a pinch.

Today is Sunday and The Helpers' day off with no responsibilities. So they gather in the parks, spread a blanket with a picnic and spend the entire day relaxing with fellow Helpers. If you hire a Helper, you are responsible for their room, board and every aspect of their health and well being. If they get into trouble, YOU get into trouble as well. The Helpers are paid through their agency and the family pays the agency and not the individual directly.
Helpers congregate at one of the few "smoking" areas in the city.

We go to the Paragon Center for the mall housing Toys R Us.
The 4th and 5th floors of the mall are devoted to children and teens. Department stores are organized by designer and not women, children, men, petites, etc. as they are in the States. If you're looking for a particular size, you'll have to search everywhere by designer.
Multiple fresh orange juice dispensers on the main shopping road.

A 5-story mall

Escalators galore!

Land is at a premium so buildings reach to the sky!

Orchard Road with lots of trees. These trees are filled with very noisy birds early in the morning and into the night.
Sophia decides to take me home through a completely foreign route to me and I hope she knows her way. We pass colonial style buildings and a temple. To my surprise, we cut through a gas station and voila, there is our home street!

 A wonderfully event-filled day!
